Acclaimed American writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin was born in Harlem on August 2, 1924, and the New York Public Library is celebrating his life and work by giving away 4,000 Baldwin books across select branches, including the Macomb’s Bridge Library located at 633 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd, New York, NY 10039.
