Hello, Hello, Hello
Pull up a chair and pull out your favorite drink. I have got some stuff I want to share with you.
There are 3 types of “Lazy.” One is Summertime Lazy. I will tell you about the other 2 later.
Summertime lazy: You don’t wanna do nothing but wipe the sweat from your brow and sit back and think about the things you should be doing but won’t get done this day.
But all of that is just a fleeting moment when you are dealing with family members that have dementia. I will be real honest with you, taking care of a person with dementia is like taking care of 2 six-year-olds. They may forget that they have just eaten and may want to eat again every hour. They may forget your name or even who you are and in another few minutes cuss you out, calling you by your name. But believe this, they know every penny they have and bank account they have stashed under the sofa cushion, and you better not move it. Watching them try to keep control of what they are losing is painful, not just for them but for me as well. No matter how much I want them to enjoy Summertime Lazy, and sometimes they do- they just don’t remember it.
Because I recognize my own forgetfulness, at this time I can’t tell you what the other 2 types of “Lazy” are because I don’t remember.
